Symmes Drama Program
Control - Communication - Creativity - Critical Thinking
The Symmes Drama program is offered to students during 4 periods of 75 minutes over a nine-day cycle. The course is a combination of warm ups, lessons, small group projects, individual assignments and performances. The first year is an introduction to dramatic concepts, physical movement and stage techniques. The second year students explore these concepts in greater depth.

Regular Attendance
This program involves a great deal of group work and assessment is ongoing throughout the term therefore regular attendance is crucial.
Participation
Students are expected to be open to trying all activities and maintain a positive attitude throughout.
Respect
Students are expected to be respectful of self, others and property.

Assessment & Evaluation
Evaluation is an ongoing process in Drama so regular attendance is critical for success.
Evaluation is based on:
-Daily participation in lessons, group discussions and critiques
-Performances: Students will be evaluated both individually and as a group-
-Self-evaluations and peer evaluations
Drama Competencies:
Throughout the 2 years, the students will be expected to acquire subject-specific competencies as well as cross-curricular competencies. It is important to understand that a competency is acquired throughout the cycle. The students will be working on acquiring these through different learning tasks and evaluation situations. There are 2 subject-specific competencies that are evaluated.
